  1. Ok basically I want to capture some demos of a game called counter strike to divx format. I have a capture card. He is my problem. I want to capture the video coming out of my video card to the capture card, that way it does not kill my computer. Can this be done. The video card i have is a geforce ti 500 and the capture card i have is a MSI TV Anywhere. I know that I could use the svideo out from my video card to a vcr then record it, and then capture it back with the capture card, but i am trying to avoid this step. I also tried using a svideo cable to pass through from the video card to the capture card, then i remote desktop (i am in xp) to the comptuer so i can see whats going on, no go. There has to be away to do this. Also i have tried the software desktop captures and they dont work at the level i need them too. Any help here will be greatly appricated

The only thing that I did differently is to send the signal through my TV-out to the VCR but instead of recording to vcr I used it as a passthrough back to my capture card where I choose the vcr source as input.

I didn't play with any color adjustments or brightness and I found the picture a bit dark. The DVD rom movie source which I tested was not too bad but desktop stuff was blurry and hard to read.

My TV out only supports 800x600 and I would like to see how it would look with a better TVout. The audio loop is similar in case someone wonders...You just take the speaker/line-out and feed it to the vcr. I use the aux inputs on the vcr which are on the front of my unit.

With the capture app running in the background I fired up the DVD rom player in full screen and watch it on my monitor and tv while it plays.

The output needs to be cut since the capture has to be started before the movie starts but that's easy to cut out.

I guess you could do that with any desktop movie..game ..etc.. but the quality would vary accordingly.

I believe the limiting factor for me is the low capability of my TV-out.

PS: while were at it, another though crossed my mind:

I have an older Curtis video sender unit that I haven't played with in a long time.

I wonder is I could transmit the signal of my TV-out to a remote TV located in another room.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.
