When you select save wav in vdub give the filename the ac3 extension then, dont try to remane it later.
So file - save wave - call it "whatever.ac3"

Hi
I've extracted the audio ac3 out of virtualdub direct stream and saved to wav. as in the guide. The problem is when I try to change the file type into ac3 audio the file becomes unstable, and changes to a dat file. As this happens I can't load this into headac3he. Can anybody help me out ?
many thanks![]()

k b,
Did you save it as "all files"? If you didn't VirtualDub stuck a wave header on it and thats why HeadAC3he keeps rejecting it.
Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack
Hi Kayfam
Just tried saving the extract in all files and still it keeps putting wav on the end. Preventing the headac3he importing it. Any more thoughts?
many thanks
:P
Try putting it in quotation marks
eg "file.ac3"

Hi craig
Tried saving it as u said, the file was able to be imported but the following
was stated in headac3he;
Warning:
Source file's last frame incomplete
or corrupt stream
Yet when the avi film is played in either zoom player or w m player all the
audio is intact.
Have u got any more ideas
Many thanks
k b,
Ignore the warning and just do the conversion. I see it all the time with avi files encoded with ac3 audio and have yet to have a problem. The only reason I can think why this happens is because of the way the original file was cut in the first place.
Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack
