  1. just a few quick questions.
    1. do i need a dvd burner to copy dvd's and if i do how do i know if i have one or not?
    2.if i author a vcd on a dvd r will it play on players that dont support vcd but that do support dvd r's?

    No, all you need is a drive that can PLAY dvd's (i.e. a DVD-Rom drive)
    To find out if you have one, you can check in you device manager under cdrom/dvdrom drives and look at the name, if it says DVD then yay!

    2.if i author a vcd on a dvd r will it play on players that dont support vcd but that do support dvd r's?
    First of all, all players that support dvd r's support vcd's to my knowledge so that shouldn;t be an issue. Second, I don;t believe there would be a need to put a VCD onto a DVD-R when u can just copy the DVD...??
