  1. I'm having a hard time trying to cut an Mpeg-2 file into small ones. Every time I do this and burn the file with Nero, the audio will be out of sync. While cutting the file I noticed that the video stream (2160.12 sec) was a little bit smaller than the audio stream (2160.14 sec).....this obviously should be the problem but…..how can I fix it?
    BTW….I’m doing CVD’s at VBR.

    Thx in advance

  2. When you encode you might try to close GOPs and keep GOP sizes smaller or more I frames.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

  3. Kitty:

    Thanks for your reply....
The thing is that if I encode any AVI without cutting it, this does not happens. It's only when I try to trim out the Mpeg-2 file using TMPGEnc. What I was doing (which is painfull BTW) was recording 35 mins of the same movie as different files then encoding those. The quality with my actual settings is really good but having to do it this way is frustrating me....

    thanks again...

  4. Is the movie out of sync when you test play it on a software dvd ?
If not i had the same problem ,and solved it when i burned with VcdEasy instead.

  6. I have the same unsynchronized audio-video problems when joining MPEG1 clips. What's the problem ?

Could you tell me what GOP is ? There is GOP tab windows I found in TMPGenc containing I, B frame etc. but I dont know what that is.

    Thanks.

  7. If your ploblem does not happens while burning a single Mpeg-1 file then do the merge with TMPGenc (make sure you hit "correct" in the options) an then create the CD using VCDEasy instead of Nero. If it happens without joining the files then it could be a milion things.....

I too have had problems cutting with TMPGEnc.

I've been ripping my X-File DVDs and to save time, instead of ripping an episode at a time, I've ripped the whole disk and used DVD2AVI to convert all the VOBs off one disk into a d2v file, then converted this into an avi header using VFAPIConv before using TMPGEnc to produce a VCD ready mpg using the VCD template. I've then cut the mpeg into episodes using the TMPGEnc merge and cut tool.

Now, when I go to burn the mpg (to test) using Roxio Videopack, it warns that the Mux rate is 1393600 bits/sec and is non-standard. If I try to proceed, it tries to separate the audio and video before crashing.

What am I doing wrong? And can I save the files I have or do I have to rip the disks again? This problem has only started after I ripped multiple episodes and then cut them.

    Many thanks

rhegedus : When you split the mpegs in tmpegenc, are you selecting 'mpeg 1 video cd' from the drop down box? Leaving this option at default setting may cause the problem with Videopack.

  11. My problem is getting complicated just like this :
Let say I have 5 clips, all have sync audio/video.
After I join these clips using TMPGEnc the unsync problem vary, in one clips the audio comes first than video and in another clips what happen is the opposite ... why ??

It does not happen when I join them using VCDCutter, but the weakness of VCDCutter is it could not join the clips accurately ... 2-3 seconds of the clips are cut/missing ....

  13. I read a solution for the out of sync problem when you are cutting a mpeg file, this works for me because I had that problem also. Use the wizard at starting Tempg, selecting VCD or SVCD (NTSC or PAL), load your file and on the third wizard screen mark the checkbox for "Source Range", this will open another screen where you can scroll the slider to the start poit you want, then click on the "Set start frame" button, now move you slider to the point where you want the end point for you new file and click on the "Set end frame" button, now click "OK", continue the wizard screen and on the fifth screen you can name your output file and choose where to save it.
    Hope this help you.
