    I have done a few movies,but I want to get the best quality I can.I download the dvd rips and then convert them with TMPGEnc.I would like to know is it better to split the avi first with virtual dub or to split it after with TMPGEnc.What are the best settings to use,I have read the converting help section but I know peolpe know how to get better quality.Just for example i have heard alot of people recommend the 2 pass/VBR but i don't know how.

    Any information will be great.

    To get 2 pass VBR select Setting. On the Rate Control option, the drop down menu has your option. You may also find these settings helpful
