  1. I just bought a Sony DRU-500A and am really stoked about videotaping the upcoming holiday's with the family and friends. I want to make up DVD video's for everyone and was curious if there is one brand out there that tends to work with most home DVD players.

    Thanks for any assistance,

i think memorex are very good, and would be shocked if anyone has had any problems with them.

  3. Thanks for the quick reply!

I was also looking to see what media standard was the most compatible as well. I have been able to burn several movies with no problem on different Memorex DVD+RW's, but have put out two coasters with Memorex DVD-R's so far. Are DVD-RW's compatible in most home DVD players?

well, i guess i'm shocked now

seriouly though, i have 5 memorex dvd-rw that i use to test menus and such. i have a phillips dvd724 and they play just fine on that. i burn to memorex dvd-r exclusively( i'm not one to try a lot of new stuff). never had a problem on my dvd player or my mother's apex(1500 i think). never tried on other dvd players though. i use nero to burn everything.

  5. Hello-I have the DRU 500A as well, and am testing DVD media. I would prefer to use discs I can buy at a local retail outlet. With both CD media and DVD media, I have had nothing but problems with Memorex products. The low speed CD-RWs work, but that's about it. Some of the Memorex CDRs I burned six months ago are no longer readable(they were stored correctly). I have used Sony CDQ74CN CDRs on my Plextor 12-10-32A with Nero for over a year with not a single coaster. The Sony DVD+RW that came with the DVD works, I wanted to test Sony DVD+R and DVD-R, they were on sale at CompUSA, but they didn't have any. Bought a 4 DVD+R / 1 DVD+RW Fuji pack, so we'll see about those. Seems to be a lot more DVD+ media available than DVD- media. I'm not knocking Memorex, they just don't work for me. Ron B
