I have the Soyo Dragon+ mobo and am using the C-Media sound controller built in to the mobo. Anyone advise AGAINST doing this with Vid cap on ATI AIW 128 Pro?
If so, what sound card should I use?
TIA,
-Tom

Riker64,
The only issue I can see with using the onboard audio is that is does utililize some extra CPU cycles, hence this could lead to dropping frames. Try it and if your getting an excessive amount of dropped frames then you might want to consider going with an add-on card.Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack -
I had issues w/ my similar setup (Soyo Dragon+ / ATI AIW 32MB). Mainly a hissing sound that was almost as loud as the captured audio. It was useless for me to record any TV shows, b/c of this. I almost sold my AIW...then I came across a deal on a Philips Seismic Edge 5.1 channel soundcard, and the problems were gone. Works perfectly now!
I suggest getting another sound card. Read on the forums at rage3d.com and you will find tons of info, probably more than you'd ever need. Good luck! -
Yep, I seem to be getting a high pitch noise in my recordings as well, that prompted me to ask this question. I'll look for a new sound card.
Thanx,
-Tom
