  1. Hello-Just got the Sony DRU 500A, I'm stoked. I have Nero, but this new drive is not 100% supported yet. I burned a video project directly from Video Studio 6 to a DVD-RW, which is nice.
While Nero develops support for this drive, I'd like to try some other authoring software. MyDVD and Veritas Simple Backup came with the drive, I have a number of Ulead programs, how about their DVD authoring software? The Ulead programs work together nicely. Any other suggestions? Does Nero do a good job of burning DVDs, I've heard different opinions.
How about opinions of DVD media?

    Thanks in advance-Ron B

  2. hello, this is what i like to use:

    1.-dvd decryter to rip
    2. CCE to do the transcoding (unless i'm only trancoding 1 vob then i use rempeg)
    3. if authoring is needed i use Spruce-up because of its ease
    4. ifo edit to do the corrections or reproduce any ifos if needed
    5. prassi primo dvd to burn (i stopped using nero because my nero burned dvd-r's didnt play in my xbox)
    -the media i use are ritek silvers/gold ( $1.25 per disc @ qtccdr.com) and princo white top ($0.90 per disc @ qtccdr.com)

i get all my dvdr from qtccdr because its located 1 block from where i work in santa ana ,california...its a very reliable place!!!!!

I HOPE THAT THIS COULD BE SOME HELP TO U IF ANY!

and if u try out spruce -up for authoring dont forget to check out my site for downloading pre-made buttons for menu creation
check out http://www.geocities.com/eatin_sammiches/sprucecreations.html to download additonal buttons and backgrounds for SPRUCE-UP menu creation

  4. Hello-Thanks for your input. I have heard that Nero is not as good at burning DVDs as it is for CDs. That's a stoker you can get your media down the block. I'm stuck with retail, which has limited selection or mail order, which isn't my favorite purchase option.
I have seen a lot of discussion in different forums about burning XboX discs, but because I don't have one, I didn't pay much attention to it. If you look hard enough, I think the XboX info you need is around.

Ulead's DVD Movie Factory is a good program, low cost too $50.00.

If you want more power look at their DVD WorkShop...

Both are good programs and you can download trial versions...

  6. I like Ulead software. It doesn't do everything, but it's fast and easy, and all their programs work together. The DVD Workshop is too expensive, I'll probably try the Movie Factory.
    Thanks again-Ron B
