I followed the guides on this site to create a VCD but it's really bad quality. When viewing the .avi file on my computer it's DVD like quality. But on VCD it's horrible. How do i fix this?

did you convert this avi to a mpeg and burn as vcd?
what did you use to convert.
convert your avi to svcd its better quality -
VCD quality is not that good. If your DVD player will support SVCD or XSVCD, I would render your AVI into an MPEG2 file with a higher bitrate and resolution.
