If you have this version (5.5.9.14) of nero, do you still need to extract the audio file with a program like virtualDubb and encode with TMPEnc? I know if the file doesnt fit on the cd, you need to use TMPEnc to divide, but will the sound really mess up if you dont extract. Thanks for the help

not quite sure what you are asking. try to be more detailed in what you are doing currently and whit it is that you want to do.

Ok...When you convert from AVI to VCD format, one of the tutorials on this site tell you to use VirtualDubb. This program extracts the audio to a .wav file. I then tells you to use TMPEnc to convert from AVI to VCD. U put the AVI (Divx) file that you want to convert as the source video file, then you put the .wav file you just created as the audio source file. You change some settings and then you convert. Then you use Nero to burn. My question is if you download a Mpeg file instead of Divx, can you just burn that file without worrying about the VirtualDubb and the sound or will that cause the sound quality to go down. I know the more you convert the worse the quality of audio and video, but On my computer, for one of the video files I have, after I used VirtualDubb, the sound quality actually sounds better. I dont know how to explain this any better, so I hope this helps

AeNiMa42o,
If the MPEG file is VCD compliant or SVCD whatever the case may be, yes you can go straight to burning it in Nero without any further conversion.Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack -
One last question. How good is Nero's encoding process. When I use TMPEnc, Nero goes straight to burning, if I just use Nero, it encodes and then burns. Thanks for all of the help.

It is almost universally agreed that the VCD and SVCD templates in TMPenc are vastly superior to Nero's.
