  1. Hey,

my problem is that the .avi file I want to burn is in 16:9 format. If I burn the filme now and wanna watch it on my dvd player it's in 4:3 and it doesn't look good cause it's not the right format.
Does anyone know how I can burn it to the right 16:9 format ???
I could not find any help on this site to this problem so far
(I burn with nero if that helps!=)

    Thanks so much!

  2. Have you tried setting your DVD player for 16:9 to see what affect that has? What are your converting the .avi file to? VCD, SVCD? What programs and settings are you using?

No I did not try to set my DVD player for 16:9 ... well I have to figure out how to do it first... do you know it?

I convert the avi file in nero to vcd. There I use the settings which allready were in nero...

  5. you need to add borders to your AVI, encode it with TMPGEnc or CCE not Nero. read up on the guides on the left.

  6. can I just re-iterate the fact that

SETTING YOUR DVD PLAYER TO 16:9 MODE ONLY WORKS FOR DVD'S!

this is a function designed for anamorphic widescreen DVD's to appear in the correct ratio on widescreen TV's.

DVD players cannot magically add borders to VCD's or SVCD's. if you want borders you have to add them yourself in the encoding process.
