I have the wintv usb pvr. I created an mpeg using its vcd capture setting. The input was a vcr tape into the rca inputs. That said, I am happy with the quality of the 600Meg mpg it created, in as much as a/v are in sync at all points in the file. But I seem unable to convert the file to something that can be saved as vcd (using vcdimager for example) without a/v getting out of sync.
I realize i'm not the first person this has happened to so I have some newbie theory questions:
1. How is it, that if you have an mpeg with a/v in sync, that any conversion process should cause them to get out of sync? shouldn't the coversion software be mindful of the sync? why should there ever be a problem?
2. Should I ever assume there is a problem with a the original mpeg recording, and always blame the conversion process?
Bottom line, if anybody has the USB pvr from hauppage, please tell me from start to finish how you are able to create vcd's for long recordings, say 1hour or more. Please include your settings on capture, and what software/steps you use to convert to vcd.
thanks.
