  1. I'm trying to create an instructional video and would like best quality mix between screen captures and camera shots.

What has messed me up so far is that the video quality going down when mixed with dv footage and sound levels between camera footage and computer footage are way off.

For camera work, I used mono lav on camera.

For computer work, I used Camtasia and stereo desktop mic to soundblaster on one machine. I can also go to cheap sound card on other machine, but it won't take my lav for some reason.

Sound on camera comes up much louder than sound card captured audio. Balancing in Premiere doesn't get them very close. I've kicked up recording volume on sound card, but if I go too much, I think it will start to clip. I will experiment with this more.

So is this an editing function or is my procedure for recording just way too screwy. Would the best bet be to keep trying to figure out how to mix these in post? I haven't recorded much screen capture stuff so I can throw it away without a problem.

I guess I can record a totally separate sound track on video camera during screen capture, but that seems like it will be difficult to get to sync with screen stuff.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for any help.

  2. I should have mentioned, that the recordings on the machine with a sound blaster using my mono lav are also different in sound from those going through the camcorder. Canon 25mc by the way.

    Thanks
