  1. I was wondering is it possible to burn in DVD format on a normal CD ?
I would think that would just cause the video and/or audio to be shorter because the size of DVD video is substantially bigger.
I have noticed that when using NERO (v5.5) it is not possible to burn in DVD format, with which burn programme would that be possible ?
    If it possible at least.
    Thanx in advance

  2. It's called mini-DVD http://www.vcdhelp.com/minidvd.htm

Also see stuff on the site on CVD which is compatible with 1/2 D1 DVD

In general: more bitrate, more resolution, good source, good capture, good encoder generally makes good result
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

  4. It is fair to say that for just about any film, DVD can both look and sound better, and have better interactivity than a similar VCD or SVCD.

However, you can still get very good results on both VCD and SVCD that are entirely watchable and enjoyable. Furthermore, authoring proggies for S/VCD is somewhat more mature (especially on the freeware/open source scene) and CD burners and media are still much cheaper than DVD burners and media in most parts of the world.

  5. I am not saying I'm not happy with the SVCD capabilities I have at the moemnt but I just wanted to burn the Stills my dad made with his new Digital camera in a sequence (ergo video) and the source is 2247 * 1568 and I thought it would be a shame if you could only showthe pictures at 352 * 288 so I thought I'd burnb them in DVD format but Nero didn't do that..

    But thanx anyway

  6. You can put hi resolution still images on a S/VCD at a resolution of 704x480/576.

DVD can itself only do 720x480/576.

  9. If you have the right DVD player, you don't even have to do a CVD or Mini-DVD, I do 704x480 at 6000 bitrate, burn with nero at non compliant SVCD and it will play on my Daewoo 5800 and Sampo 631CF abd since all my family either owns the Daewoo or Sampo, I can make short but extremely high quality XSVCD videos and trade with them.
