    OK, I used to run Win98SE, and whenever I clicked the Explorer quicklaunch button, it opened into the C drive. Now in XP, the button loads into My Documents (a folder I never use).

    How do I go about changing this target location into, say, My Computer?

    Hi What!

    Click on Start, go to My computer and to, say, drive C. Right click on C, then drag it to quick launch bar and choose "Create shortcut".

    Now you have shortcut in quick launch as you had in Win 98.

  3. Yea...

    Windows XP doesn't come "premade" with a Explorer shortcut. There is only a My Documents icon...

    If oyu want Explorer go to Star, All Programs, Accessories, then find Windows Explorer and with right mouse drag it to Quick Launch bar. Create shortcut - that's it.

    I've already created the Explorer quicklaunch button; I made a bunch of'em too . What I want to know is how to change the target to My Computer, rather than the My Documents folder (like what happens when you hit the Start Menu key + E on your keyboard; it opens up to My Computer).

    I've also tried the right click Create Shortcut for My Computer, but it opens a normal window rather than an Explorer window.

    Thanks for the help so far; it is appreciated.

    OK, so you have Explorer icon in Quick launh.
    Right click on it, choose properties and in the Target box paste this:

    %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

    Now it will open My computer. If you want restore default setting,paste this in Target:

    %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,::{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}

    Happy exploring.
