I can't afford Womble(not for even 1/4 of the $249 price they are asking).
Is there really no free splitter for this type of video file that a user can just choose the number of splits they want to end up with(or maybe the size of splits)?
I know that I can't be the only one that can use this....isn't there one out there?

Are you saying it will divide my typical 4Gig caps into 750Meg equal pieces(with a remained left over) as I need a splitting program to do?Or divide it into....say 6 "equal" sized pieces?
THAT's the kind of thing I need.
Is there nothing that will do that in one process?
(I know I can split of pieces one at a time with TMPGenc's source range and other editing programs)....but I need a splitter that will do a large file all at once.
Again....Is there Nothing like that out there? -
It's been quite some time since I used bbmpeg for cutting, but as I recall you can set a maximum file size and it will generate however-many pieces of that size, plus a smaller one with the end.
So if you feed in 4GB of source material and set it to 750MB max size, you'd get 5 files of roughly 750MB and one of around 250MB. If you wanted 6 equal pieces you'd grab your calculator and divide 4GB by 6 to get a little over 680MB, which you'd probably want to round up by a few MB to be safe.
Now, you will have to manually demux the file beforehand because bbmpeg takes audio and video MPEG streams for input rather than a muxed MPEG file. But life's full of trade-offs. -
joeAgain------ Womble MPEG2VCR dosen't have file splitter it can Edit, Cut or Joint Video.

then is there really no splitting program (like the kind I need) out there at all?

On this site there is a freeware (not listed in tools unfortunately) sefy alludes to called Darim Vision m-editor v2.5. It will take the mpeg1 and 2 and split the size file into whatever you need. Sefy says it's old and I couldn't find it at Darim's web site. If you type in "search darim vision or m-editor v2.5" on this "vcd site" search feature you will find what I am talking about.

I can NOT find that available anywhere on the net(free that is)
they have a newer PAY version, but I can't afford it.
Can someone email V2.5 to me?
Please?
(If so, let me know...and I 'll post my email address) -
Hi,
Did anyone ever find M-Editor 2.5 as I cannot find it anywhere
Regards
Steve -
Nobody has responded to my requested either, Eagle.one
I guess nobody who still has it has seen these posts.
(Is that program only usable with Win95?....I thought I might have seen that somewhere)
If it will work with Win98, I'd still really like to have it somehow.....because every other program that will make multiple splits costs money now....LOTs of money.
Again...does anyone still have it and might be willing to email it to me? -
I Wasn't able to find the program on the net, and I don't know if it will be
possible to post it here, so I suggest you use Google to search for it on your
own, I will try to find another free (you could use TMPGEnc - MPEG Tools)
MPEG Encoder.Email me for faster replies!

TMPG and Honestech editor both cost about $48, that is aboout 1/4th the price.
Also, you can't be looking very hard for a free SVCD editor at all !!
I have found many, many of them just be simple google searches, checking CNET, etc. Pretty easy.
None of the free ones have satisfied me, but there are so many, I haven't gone through them all. So, I use TMPG, which is really is an encoder, that also does some MPEG editing. I am a registered user of TMPG plus. I'm still looking for a solid, consistent, fast MPEX SVCD editor, free or pay. I must admit, 400, 500 for something like M2-Edit is way too much, but there are a lot of legal ways to get products at way less than the standard ticket price.
What I referring to is finding out of their product is OEMed, somewhere else at a different name, etc. Most of the time the highest cost is always going to be going to the manufactor. Sometimes the same product is sold under a different name for a fraction of the original manufacturers cost.
