If I convert my divx files into mpeg files for watching them on my dvd player every thing goes rigth with that mpeg file that TMPGEnc makes, but when the file size is too big (over 700mb) to burn it on a cd , I have to split the file with the tool in TMPGEnc. If I split that file, my burn program, nero, says that it isn't a good mpeg file. I have to convert that file again and than its a good file, but that takes most of the time again 3 hours. Does someone knows how I can prevent this problem.

What exactly is nero saying. does is say its not a compliant mpeg?

What are you making VCD, SVCD, XVCD or XSVCD.

knowing which you are making will help with figuring out nero

First of all if you read a bit more on this site you would learn that you can fit 800 mb vcd or svcd on an 80 min cd.

You can cut before or after you process in tmpgenc.
There is a range option in tmpgenc which will allow you to select only part of a movie to encode. If the output is meant for 2 cd then just select 1/2 the movie in the range option and it will process that part only.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

I am trying to make a VCD, Yes it does says its not a compliant mpeg. But if I don't break the mpeg file in two parts it doesnt say that, and when I use TMPGEnc again to convert the two parts again, it doesnt says that anymore, but that takes 3 hours again. Could it be somethaing that the mpg tool makes the files incorrect VCD files???

try unchecking the box in Nero that says make compliant cd. or if message pops up tell it to turn off compliance or something like that

    then burn and test

Nero is only telling you that your file is not up to standards for vcd. If you have made a valid mpeg1 with layer II audio it probably won't matter.
Most of us actually create xvcd and nero always gives that msg. Just do as suggested and turn off compliance and burn. Try it!

If it doesn't play its a new problem.

    Ask again!!

    PS

If it's too large to fit on a cd that is when you need to cut it.

  7. Hi:

    Joeri.

I do not know if I understand what you are saying. However, let see.

If you converted your vide file to a VCD mpg compliant file who is compliant under Nero, however, after you split the file (break in two parts) with TMPGEnc and Nero says that the new two files are not compliant for VCD, then maybe what is happening is the following:

When you are in the TMPGEnc Tools in the merge & cut tab, you have to choose in the "type:" option "MPEG-1 VIDEO CD". If you do that and split your file, the resulting files sholud be VCD copmliant (no need to re-encode). Look that you have chosen the "MPEG-1 VIDEO CD" option before starting to cut your file.

    I hope this help you.

I think you're right ranma_st, I didn't look at the Type of the file. I am gonna try it again. Thanx. And gll99 the movie is 120 min, so it don't fit if you're not using a lower bitrate or use kvcd templates
