If I burn data to a DVD-R or RW (such as an avi file), can I read that as a data file in a PC equipped with only a DVD-ROM drive? I was under the impression I should be able to but have failed dismally in my attempts so far. The PC doesn't recognise the disk as having any valid format. It obviously reads fine in the DVD burner that it was created on. Is it that a DVD-ROM drive will only read files in VCD or DVD format and normal CD data disks?
Thanks

YOu can burn Data DVDs in Nero and read them fine long as you have a drive that can read DVDRs and good quality ones so that it doesn't error when trying to read them. Its how I back uped my computer for formatting.
