I'm going to buy a DVD player sometime next week, and I've narrowed my list down to these two models. From reading the comments on this site, I'm leaning strongly towards the Pioneer because I've read a lot of excellent comments whereas I have read some good and some bad about the JVC. I mostly watch VCD's and XVCD's and I've read that the Pioneer plays both flawlessly, but I've read that the JVC 300 series (300bk, 302sl) often skips and it gets stuck and has other problems.
My main question I have for owners of these two models is - how sensitive are these dvd players to scratches and dust? because some of my VCD's and DVD's are nearly 2 years old and have accumulated lots of imperfections. Also I buy a lot of Pre-owned DVD's and many of them are slightly scratched.
Another question is - have any of yall succesfully hacked the region code/ macrovision? I've yet to come across any hacks on the web or on this site, but perhaps someone here has recently succeeded.
Anyone else with any important info which you think I should know, please respond.
thanks
