Has anyone stumbled across a method of saving "save-protected" Quciktime files? All of the trailers at Apple.com seem to be protected.
I've noticed that the streamed video is saved as a .tmp file in your Windows Temp directory. Quicktime automatically deletes these files when QT is closed. The files cannot be copied, as they are locked by the OS because the files are in use by QT. I've tried changing NTFS permissions on the files, but the system claims the file is locked and cannot change permissions. Changing to Read-only doesn't work either.
Any ideas?
TIA

Hehehe, figured it out.
Perform a local backup of the your Windows TEMP directory to FILE with the Quicktime movie window still open (I used WinXP's Backup utility).
After shutting down QT, restore the backup you just made to an alternate location (any folder on your desktop, for example). The .TMP file will be there. Rename to .mov and you're good to go. You can then delete the other files that were restored.
Why did they even start protecting these files? Jeesh...
