  1. I just recently got a couple of svcds that are really great. They play perfectly on my PC. The only thing is that if I play them on my dvd player (GoVideo model dvp850), the audio is choppy- every few seconds it goes out and then is back on, kind of like when you are playing a cd and you hit it on something repeatedly without antishock on. Or when a mp3 is playing and the harddrive is preoccupied with copying stuff from a cd.

Is there any way to solve this problem? Anything to do with the cables connecting to the tv or burning speed of the svcd... Or is this dvd player so bad that I should get a new one. Any recommended cheap dvd players?

Some svcds work on my dvd player fine but some don't. I can't seem to figure out why.

I think this topic might belong under the hardware section but I am a newbie, so I posted here. Please help me!

It could be the bitrate of some of the CD's... If it's too high for your player, you could get choppy video and/or sound. Take one of the CD's your having trouble with to a electronics store (Best Buy, etc..), and play it on another player. I would look for the RCA 5240p, this player will play just about anything. If it plays fine there, then its your player at home..

I have noticed the same. I currently have a Raite, Apex, Sony and Pioneer DVD Player. The Sony and Apex are changers. Noticed that SVCD's would not play on the Sony until I did the VCD header trick. BUT last night noticed that the header trick while works great on the Sony makes the Apex do what you mentioned above so have gone to making standard SVCDs and looking to get rid of my Sony and maybe purchasing a Panasonic changer.
