  1. Hi!

trying to fit 2h 17min movie on cvd PAL, and the results is quite good. But I want better quallity, now a question regarding the sound: does Joint Stereo preserve the Dolby Surond ? do I get more bitrate for the picture using joint stereo? Can a "normal" movie watcher hear the difference? And what exacly is joint stereo?

    Regards, Mange

  2. Joint Stereo is nothing more than a fileformat to preserve space....when left and right are the same he makes it mono....when the are different he makes it stereo...only music is often stereo...so he encodes that part as stereo....dialogs are often mono...so that part will be encoded as mono...it makes a smaller filesize...but if u will see the differences?? Especially nowadays with ac3 audio its hardly that all tracks (eg left and right) will be the same...so he will encode it as stereo anyway...
