Converting "The Abyss" from DVD to SVCD

Hi all, i'm trying to converting the film and i've ripped it with Smartripper 2.31, but when i play the VOB's with Flaskmpeg preview 0.6 i see image noises (some orizontal black lines surrounding the various actors), and when i convert to SVCD (using the chain flask->avisynth->tmpg) is even worst. Anybody ripped the film? Any suggestion?

I tried to convert a chapter of this movie to check (x)VCD/SVCD quality, and I worked fine. I don't remember the chapter number, but it is the one when the girl arrive in the boat room and talk to her husbant via video, and then take the mini sub to go to the platform. I wanted to see the result on almost blue pictures. It worked fine with smartripper and tmpeg encoder. I was a Zone2 DVD.

Well, maybe the problem is the way i rip the film (using smartripper). I rip entire film (any language i mean), using "movie" method. Which resolution have you tried for SVCD? i try the "classic" 480x576, bitrate video 2540, audio 224, quality 77.
