Hi,
I really like my DV444s Pioneer. It is multiregion microvision free, and 2 moths old.
But when playing DVD's most of the time during the movie, it freezes for a second, and then continue playing normally. It seems that it is mostly between 70 min onwards. It also just happens once in a movie.
When taking it back, the guy at the store said it is due to double layer DVD discs, that it stops for a sec when moving from the one layer to the other (Lords of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc) On single layer discs it should not do this. It is due to the software.
1) Is this true ?
2) Does all models do it?
3) Does all players do it ?
4) Can one get software which fixes this, and if so where?
Thanks!!

1) no (it is HW)
2) yes
3) yes (maybe ones, using DVD-ROMs don't)
4) no
Read warning on the back of the DVD case! Layer change takes time, cause laser head has to be carried bact to beginning and STB players are not fast with that. Some blame goes to authors too, as in some movies layer change point is carefully chosen.
