  1. This must be a basic question but I didn't find anything when I searched.

What CPU speed, hard drive size, etc., etc., do I need to install and use the typical software mentioned on this site to create video CDs?

I just bought a JVC GR-DV3000 digital camcorder. I want to video tape products that I sell and transfer the video to a CD so that potential customers can view on their computer.

Before I get any software, I realize that I might need to upgrade or replace my computer. I currently have an HP model 8750C. It has a Pentium III, 667 MHz processor, and my system currently tells me I have 319 MB of RAM. It has a CD-Writer too.

the faster the processor the faster the encoding time. your 667 will work but if you do upgrade, get the fastest processor you can afford. this should keep you from upgrading your cpu for a few years. as for harddrive, again the fastest and biggest possible. try to get at least a 72000 rpm and at least a 100 gig. remember, this is your workhorse, get the best products you can afford.(of course, look for deals and sale prices)

  5. Im using 900mhz AMD Thunderbird, 384megs of ram, 100 gigs on two drives 40 and 60. I encode mpeg 1 - 45 minutes eps at 1 hour encode time, and mepg 2 same length at about 2 hours.

I used to run a 200mz P1 and 4 gig hard drive. and It would do mpeg 1 45 minute eps at 8 hours and mpeg 2 same length at 20+ hours
Ok - you got me - i dont know anything - you happy now!
