Ok, i think i am missing something really obvious here, but i am having trouble figuring this out.I have been ripping with smartripper, frameserving with dvd2avi, and encoding with tmpgenc, but i am sick of waiting at least 20 hours for a movie to finish.
So i decided to look into CCE. I found a guide on here, but here is my problem. I have all of the .Vob files that i ripped, but i need to get them into .Avi files. I figured you would use Dvd2Avi for this (prolly duh)
But when i select my .vob files and then select "save .avi" i get a compression selection screen. Which do I choose??? Or am i even doing this the right/easiest way?
I just need an .avi file so i can use virtualdub... Thanks in advance!

I do not use your program, but it seems to me the program is offering you the chance to choose your codec, as uncompressed .avi files can be huge.
Hello. -
You want to use save project(F4). this will save a frameserving file to use for TMPGEnc to use, will save space on your hard drive.
May the force be with you. -
Ok, i guess my first post was rather vague. I was looking to use
"Kevin's check list : .avi to x(S)VCD/CVD using CCE 2.xx" guide to make svcd's. The first step says i need an .avi file. All i have are .vob files after i rip a movie. How do i get an .avi file? And if i use dvd2avi, could you please explain the steps for me?? I dont wanna frameserve to tmpgenc, encoding takes too long!! Thanks!! -
Why not give DvdX V1.7 a go, easy to use and as fast as TMPGEnc in converting the VOB's.
1, Smartripper rip vob's and ifo (Normal rip)
2, load Ifo into DvdX select AVI,VCD,SVCD for output and encode
High quality on all settings takes abot 3 hours on a 2 hour movie (P4 1.6) -
Thanks for the help, i am still trying to figure out how to use DVDX, but i hope it isnt all that bad.....Thanks again!!

Most of the things are just default, if you select VCD all is set up for the output, you may want to change the motion search and things like that, and change aspect ratio to letterbox or 16:9/4:3 but that will come later after you have tried it and clicked stop to see output.
