Hello,
I record mpg files with a satellite receiver card which is in my computer (digital video recorder).
Some of the files are marked with a very high maximum variable bit rate. I use DVD workshop to put the files on DVD, but because of the high bit rate DVD Workshop will re-encoding the already good mpg file what I don’t want.
When I check the bit rate with “Bitrate viewer” I don’t see this high maximum bit rate.
My question is, is there a way to correct this maximum variable bit rate without re-encoding the file.

First of all...I dont have a DVD burner....so I dont use the high bitrates like those who do.
But in short...You cant change the bitrate without re-ecoding...but I dont know why DVD Workshop would reencode unless the bitrate was over say 9.8 mb/s. But the only question I ever asked here about DVD workshop concerned it not leting me do a XVCD without trying to reencode to standard VCD....Maybe this is some how related to your question???
