  1. Hi,

Can someone recommend a capture card that will meet my requirements?

Basically, I want to capture some VHS tapes (mainly PAL, but 1 or 2 NTSC), so that I can write them to DVD-R. I want to try to keep the same quality as the original video tapes if possible.

Is there a card for about £100, that would be able to do the above? Also,
where is the best place to buy the card?

The specs of my PC are:
    AMD Athlon 2000xp
    512mb PC 133
    80Gb IDE Hard Drive - 7200rpm
    Windows XP

Thanks in advance for any help.
    Ben

  3. Thanks for the tip Mavrick.

I've read some good reviews for that card, so I'll give it a go.

    Thanks,

  8. Hi

    I recommend Hauppauge WinTV-PVR series.

AverMedia Studio(with software MPEG2 conversion) should be cost effective solution if your CPU speed is OK for waiting convertions.

I'm using Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-pci model 883 for PAL BG. It has hardware MPEG2 encoder(also capable for MPEG1 capture), with new(and beta drivers) quality is much more then expected.

  9. Obi. I looked at a sample of a news show and a sci fi movie captured by the AVerTV Stero card and it looks awesome!! Can I see a sample of a news show or a movie u can captures real quick with your card (like a 10 mb file or less depending on your speed). If you can that would be great. Contact me on MSN. My msn name is dreamgames@barrysworld.com

Also my pc is a 120 GIG, Athlon XP 2200+, 512 MB, GeForce 4 Ti4200.
