  1. First, here is a Link: http://www.onecs.de/mvcd/

For those who can't read German, it says you can make about 130min of Movie on 1 CD-r in Mpeg1 in better quality then other formats. Its a template for TmpgEnc. Is there anyone who knows about MVCD? Because i tried it and my results won't fit on 1 CD-R, so maybe someone can give me advice for the settings.

The template uses Constant Quality under the rate control in tmpenc and then you can never predict exact how big the output will be.

You find similiar "one-cd"-templates here www.kvcd.net

  3. @Krabbenhuhn,

The Mole templates are basically old KVCD templates
They are just a small modification to the original ancient KVCD templates, that didn't have a custom quantization matrix. Nothing like the PLUS, x2, or x3.

    @Baldrick and everyone here:

There is a way now to predict final file size down to ~1% to ~2% using CQ encoding modes.
There's even a modified version of FitCD that integrates the calculations for you. Link here: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1369
Also the thread on file size prediction which explains everything is here: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1294

It all depends on your source.
    Check the samples here: http://www.kvcd.net/dvd-models
Then make some samples yourself and come to your own conclusion

:P i guess i don't understand much there.... is it possible to play the cd on a vcd or svcd standalone?
also, from the forum, i believe that if we force all 130min movie into one cd will result in "not quite good" picture quality since it will compressed too much... i don't know... please explain it more...

XVCD compatibility with stand-alone VCD (and presumable SVCD players) is poor.

DVD players tend to be more forgiving.

Generally, yes. However, how good (or bad) the result is compared to a standard VCD will depend not only on the actual length of video you are trying to put onto one CD, but also the source. Some things compress better than others. Some things compress worse than others.

BTW kwag, it is entirely possible if not even likely that the author of these XVCD templates independently came up with settings similar to yours (like many have before you)...

In part, true. But none ever came out with the customized Q. Matrix we did. Not even close.
If you look closely at the matrixes available ( Andreas, CCE's, M1B, Angel's, etc ) none of them looks like ours. As a side effect, it has proved to be a "better" general purpose matrix than the "default" matrixes. And that's what makes the difference
