  1. Just got my Xtasy Everything card. It captures nicely, but I'd have to say in out of nearly 60 test recordings, the audio and video have been in approximate sync only twice. It doesn't matter what settings I use, sync seems impossible. In all cases, the audio comes before the video on playback.

The company website is useless. Methods I've tried as suggested in the help categories are not working. If I separate the audio and video, edit the mp2 in an mp2 editor and recombine them with TMPGEnc, the audio comes back as white noise. (BTW, I am an audio engineer...)

All I will be doing with this card is capturing from VCR to make SVCDs. Can anybody here kindly make some suggestions as to what I might do? Thanks a lot in advance.

  2. OK, I seem to have solved my own problem by going to the Visiontek US website and buying the upgrade from WinDVR 1.5 to version 2 - but you can't use the driver that comes with it.

Beware: when you first use WinDVR 2, it tells you that you have 44 days left in your trial period. However, at 4:30 into my first recording, it stopped and told me my trial period was up and I had to buy the program.

I did that and installed it and got it activated. Same problems as before - no sync and a white bar on the screen.

I had to go to their website in the UK and get the latest WDM driver - the one on the Xtasy Everything install CD and on the US site is the old driver that was causing the problems. Now I have sync and the white bar I was getting in the middle of the screen has disappeared.

So if you have bought Xtasy Everything, you have to pay for the upgrade of WinDVR ($15) and get the new driver from England, and then your package will work. Why they sold a non-working package in the first place is a mystery to me...

Forget about mailing Visiontek support - my e-mail was returned to me because their mailbox is overflowing, probably with complaints about the same thing.
