I have an .avi that is more or less like most
downloaded 695 MB. However, this movie
lasts 1 hour 48 min. (longer than the ones
found thus far). Now when I extract the Audio
with VirtualDub I get a huge audio file 1.1 gig.
Isn't this rather strange as it generally is the
almost same size as .avi file?
Can I reduce this audio file because I am sure
my final converted VCD will now not fit
on 1 CD.
Thanks!

load the wav file you created into tmpgenc along with the video file .. for a vcd the wav is compressed to a mpeg1 audio file layer 2 and will be very small.
you didnt really need to extract the wav anyway .. -
44,1k stereo = 10mb/minute uncompressed
1:48 = 108 minutes * 10 = ~1.08gb
So yes, that is correct.
