  1. i have a mpeg file, which opens in players (PowerDVD, MediaPlayer....) with a resolution of 720x540 and shows details conform to that resolution (seems not to be zoomed up).

but i want to / need to convert it to any usual format (AVI, SVCD), to split it into 2 parts for burning to CD, because the file has 1.4GB

    but....

all conversion tools (TMPEnc, DVDx... and i tried a lot more) opens that mpeg file with a resolution of 320x240, and use that resolution as base for the conversion. the result, i get, is very smooth, much smoother than the original.

anyone here, who has experienced similar problems and/or has a solution?

IF i can play it at the full resolution, it should also be possible to convert it using the full resolution !

Tried dvd2avi? If it opens it in 320x240 it is 320x240.

  3. thx Baldrick

but why do all players open it in 720x540, and also the fileinfo there says 720x540, and when i play it, it shows much more details, than a 320x240 would show, if i zoom it up to 720x540

  4. 2nd thing is, the file is 1.4GB for a 80 minutes 320x240, isn't that more than double the size, which would be needed ?
