I've been converting vids for a while with no problems. However, a week ago I got a new burner - things still went fine - then I activated DMA for my burner and everything just went haywire. Here's how it goes:

I opened up a .avi in VirtualDub, filtered a subtitle, and went on to TMPGenc...vdr opens fine, I start conversion...I leave the comp and about three hours in the computer freezes - no response. I've tried this several times with several vids and all freezes...

Now, since I've always been able to convert files with the setup I use now I've kinda narrowed it down to the DMA, which is the only change I made to the comp settings. My question is, does DMA for a CD-Writer affect any other functions of the computer? I didn't think so at first, because the CD-R is not in use.

DMA = Freeze?

I will try disabling it myself, but it never hurts ask for advice also, right? Thanks in advance.
