I need help from anyone that has any information regarding this matter, I am forever in gratitude to all that respond to this message...
My problem is that whenever capturing a VHS tape, one that's not copyrighted (this is an old home movie), the file looks fine when watching it on the computer, but when watching it after capturing it, there's a BIG WHITE BAR taking up half the screen. I've tried all sorts of things, disabling video stabilizer in the VCR menu, installing old 29.42 drivers for the video card (I have an AOPEN AEOLUS GEFORCE TI 4200) and countless amount of other remedies that all have failed. If anybody can help on this matter, that'd be great!

I've experienced that same thing before except the video that I tried to copy was an original one so it must be Macrovision.
It is weird that it happen on non-copyrighted videos like yours but I've read somewhere that sometimes it is happen because the driver has a wrong detection so it assume some signal to be Macrovision.
Solution is, just try download nVidia WDM capture driver version 1.08 and install it. Don't forget to completely removed the old first.
Hope this would help!
