  1. I`ve downloaded Red Dragon and the frame rate is 14.985 . whats the best way to convert it to Pal 25FPS using tmpgenc... If I strech the audio so it 25FPS and encode to Pal for video with DO NOT FRAME RATE change will it be too much for the encoder to keep smooth, changing to such a big Frame Rate change..

  2. I've read your post and regret to say that a 14.985fps .avi is not a very good base to start from to make a vcd of any quality. While I'm sure it plays well as an avi, it wil undoubtedly look and sound very bad as a vcd.
I have tried many different guides and programs to convert them myself and have been left unsatisfied every time. The best thing to do is find another copy with higher frame rate such as an mpeg or bin/cue.

You know I always wanted to see a good 15fps movie.

If you send me a SMALL clip of the movie I will see if I can help.

Remember I am only on 56k.

I have never got 15fps to look good as an avi but if it does then surely a vcd comversion should look similar.

  4. I`ve decided to Delete. If I load it into a Pal template and started the source say from 15000 to 16000 It was in sync and looked OK. Started it from beginning of the film to end and it wasn`t.
I had a go at streching the audio so it was 25fps but although it sound OK, they were speaking twice the speed and the whole film encoded twice the speed with DO NOT FRAME RATE CHANGE selected. And I had to try and get rid of a hiss in the sound. I`ve decided to have nothing to do with Cams and Telesyncs anymore. Its either DVD Rips or Screeners I`m gonna deal with from now on.

I have a similar problem. I've got a bunch of .mov files that I converted to .mpeg. I want to burn them to a VCD but the framerate is 15fps (this was the original framerate, I didn't do this). How do I convert them to PAL/NTSC framerate? I know the quality won't be great but I've not done a VCD before and I want to try everything.

Also, can I burn PAL and NTSC on the one VCD? My stand-alone DVD player and TV can both handle both formats.

    Thanks,

  8. I imagine you'll be able to put both NTSC and Pal on 1 CD. Just stick both on when you burn, if you`ve already encoded them using something like TMPGenc. As for you converting them if you have done already it'll be trial and error. But you say you haven`t encoded before. Pheww. Get reading this website Matey,

I'm pretty confident about burning VCDs and I've read the site plenty, just never had the need to actually do it before. I'm not afraid of screwing it up but I honestly have enough coasters already (it's true, I actually use them for drinks and ashtrays).

Thanks for the info! Now if only I could figure this 15fps thing out. It's so bad.
