Hi there
Have been looking around for hardware options for MPEG encoding and wonder if anyone has looked at this. Does anyone know if using hardware would be faster than software options and also if there are any implications on quality.
Currently using TMPEG and apart from the speed it seems pretty good but would be interested in faster method of encoding.
Cheers
Mark

to match the the quality of tmpgenc with a hardware encoder plan on spending a lot of money .
it will be real time though .. but then again encoders like Main Concept and CCE are almost real time and in some cases faster than real time on a power system .. -
OK point taken - think I will just get some more memory and up the cpu
THanks for the advice -
yes, that will be the best idea... I think with a 1.8Ghz CPU and 512 Mb ram, you can convert an AVI to MPEG in 3 times the time the movie dures...
