virtual dub save wav errors

hey i've searched the forums for about an hour now looking for an answer to my problem but i have had no luck. I'm trying to convert an avi to mpeg1 to burn to VCD, and i have to convert the audio to a wav file first. I'm using virtual dub 1.3c to d othis however when i goto the option File.save wav , i get the following error:

ACM failed to suggest audio decompression format
AVIOutputWAV:The handle is invalid

also this might help, when i goto file information the compression field has: unknown(tag2000)

if u know how to fix this please let me know.

it is a divx you are trying to convert i suspect .. and the audio is a ac3 file i bet ..

yes it is a divX, and im not sure wat the audio is caus eit says unknown....and i looked for that post that u siad was there and i couldnt find it so could u please tell me wat i have to do?

Select direct stream copy/save wave as "all files" and rename the file extention to .ac3. Then use another encoder such as BeSweet or HeadAC3he to convert the ac3 file to wave.
