  1. Hi All,

Wasnt sure which forum to put this in so thought here might be ok.

A while ago i found a program on download.com that when run you could right click on an mpeg type file and if it wasnt running it would tell you which codec you needed to download for it to play . Sadly i lost the program and cant seem to find it anywhere !!!! Anyone got any idea the name of it and where i can find it these days ?

Many thanks all , i appreciate it

  2. I only know an app called "G-Spot". It tells you what codec a movie uses and it also lists the codecs installed on your machine. Not as comfortable as the one you're referring to, but better than nothing?!

  9. I believe the utility you are referring to might be MPEG Properties.

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/mpeg_properties.cfm

I use GSpot for AVIs and it works well, particularly where audio codecs are concerned, for identifying MP3 VBR and AC3 codecs.
