I've yet to actually make my first VCD, but I thought I'd throw out this question and see if I can get some guidance.
I've downloaded VCDEasy and came across an error right after installation that told me I didn't have wnaspi32.dll and therefore couldn't use CDRAO. Am I understanding this correctly that I will be unable to use VCDEasy under Win XP to burn my VCD's? If this is correct, can anyone recomend the proper set of software tools to use in order to get my home movies that I've already converted to mpeg in to a VCD format then burn them to CD?
My hardware config is:
Win XP
Pentium IV 1.8ghz
512mb ram
Nvidia G4 ti4200
Dazzle DVC USB
I've already downloaded TMPGEnc, but am not so sure this is the software I'd use to actually convert my mpeg into VCD.
Please help!
Like I said, I'm real new at this and this looks like it could be a lot of fun.

Use Tmpgenc to encode your movie, use vcdeasy to burn it to a disk.
To get your vcdeasy to work, look in the tools section and download aspii
4.71 i think that is the current version number. that will solve your
problem. good luck. -
Take a look at the VCD/SVCD Burn/Authoring section under Tools. Install the ASPI drivers (or, if that fails, try ForceASPI). That ought to fix your problem. Actually, before I installed the Adaptec ASPI driver, VCDEasy complained about my ASPI layer, but worked without a problem nevertheless. But it feels good to see that "ASPI Layer seems valid: Yes" in the bottom right corner...

Thanks for the input guys.
I did all that with the ASPI drivers and finally got VCDEasy to recognize my burner. However I think I'm still missing something.
When I run the program according to the help section found on this web site, all seems to go well. It appears to go thru all the motions and I'd expect my drive tray to open with a ready to view VCD.
That never happened. All that seemed to happen was a simulation burn.
I checked the disk and theres no data on it.
VCDEasy created the XML, QUE and BIN files, but nothing on the CDR.
Is there a setting I'm not getting right?
Like I said, I followed the "How to burn with VCDEasy" guide here and it all seemed like it was working, just no finished product.
Any more input that you guys might have would be very helpful.
I feel I'm getting closer, just haven't hit my target yet.
Thanks... -
Are you positive that on the main (s)vcd page you have simulate UNCHECKED? and burn checked?
-
Yes, snowmoon. That was it. I swear, somtimes I'd lose my friggin head if it wasn't attached by my neck.
I've been able now to succesfully burn the que and bin files and create a short VCD.
Now it's time to work on the quality.
Thanks to all for the help. -
man, make an image and burn it with nero.
Where I walk, I walk alone. Where I fight, I fight alone. -
For those who still think Nero is the best thing since sliced bread (
), it still isn't the best CUE/BIN image burner by far. CDRDAO does it well. CDRWin does it the best.

I always use VCDEasy to burn my SVCD's and VCD's, knocks the socks off Nero, which I have no complaints with by the way
Panther
All say Grrrrrrrrrr...................... -
Can VCDEasy coexist with multiple burner S/w already installed? I've got Nero, NTI CD maker 2000 ,& Clone Cd, so I'm reluctant to install anything that might cause a conflict.....
-
Oh, VCDEasy is the most friendly app there is, when it comes to co-existance. And to boot, CDRDAO is one of the more powerful CD writing softwares to have around, once you get to grips with it.

VCDEasy / CDRDAO is very very unlikely to cause any conflict with your other burning proggies.
