What codec did you use... it makes a HUGE diffrence on how to edit the files.

Go back to VDub... only this time follow these simple directions.

You can start a cut ANYWHERE, but you must end a cut in a specific location. To find that location go to where you want to end the cut then use the PREVIOUS KEYFRAME button ( should look like a key point to the left ) now go back one more frame and end the cut there.

Good, now save with video/direct stream copy and save your eddited .avi.

These procedures save you from having to re-encode, but may result in poor cut position since you cannot guarntee where the new clip will start ( since you are at the mercy of the keyframe ). You can improve this by reducing the keyframe interval ( in your capture settings ).

  3. i used the picvideo jpeg codec to encode... and i dont really want to do it the keyframe way if it isnt utterly necessary because i'd prefer to try and take the commercial out right at the correct frame...

also, i cant find where the capture setting is where i can change the keyframe intervals

    red:

I also use PIC MJPEG and have never had any problems cutting and editting using Vdub. Could you explain what you mean by corrupted? Mabye you have a bad playback codec? Can you re-open it in Vdub?

  5. With mjpeg, every frame is a keyframe, so you may cut wherever you wish and still use direct stream copy

    Good times.

BTW, huffy owns mjpeg and is free.
