  1. dvd shocking. I've created a dvd RW with three avi that I converted into mpeg using TMPGEnc. I used the DVD pal template, 1:1 VGA and full screen keep aspect ratio and a constant bitrate.

The dvd plays fine on my home dvd player including all the menus that i created with Ulead moviemaker but when I play the movie, there are sometimes shocks visible. There not BIG shock, just very small once.

I can see the movie fine, but it would be a BIG improvement if I where to be able to get rid off these shocks.

    Any help would be appriciated

    Besides good snti-static protection? 8)

Seriously... what do you mean by "shocking" I can't even begin to imaging what artifact or glitch you are referring to. Are you trying to say Shake?

Are the original AVI files of top quality?

  5. By shokking I mean that the video tends to hang for a fraction of a second when I play it on my home dvd player. Now, when I say "tend"...it tends a lot . Every few seconds, the image "freezers" for a fraction of a second.

The original AVI is not of top quality, but the avi doesn't have this when I play it on the PC.

  6. If this hapens with interlaced video not in fast zooms/pans (strobe effect) or with progressive video, most common problem is bad media/weak reader.

I'm inclined to agree with EPO - your player probably doesn't like the type of media you are using. You could try others (especially CD-RW), but your player may not be entirely compatiable with CD-R media.

  8. I struggled with the same problem and using TMPGenc with several different settings did not bring solution. Than I tryed Panasonic MPEG encoder and YESS!!! I got rid of the nerving stroboscobe effect. Now the sound became out of sync with the latter program so I decided to save the sound in wav format first with Virtualdub, before encoding. Resulting in a smooth stream and no out of sync sound problems. Btw Starting my burning career only last weekend, I already wasted a lot of CD's before having succes. Now I will do a tryout on a rewritable first All procedures ass described in my message can be found on this site. I hope it has been of help. Let's keep the conversation going

  9. As I am pretty sure that that it is NOT my home dvd player, I'm going to try encoding the file in a different way by using Panasonic MPEG encoder. The dvd player is a brand new sony and it plays, to my amazement, EVERY possible media: CD,CDRW,CDR(even the cheapest ones!!!),DVD,DVDR,DVDRW,MINIDVD,VCD and SVCD. It's unbelievable and the Sony only costed about 210 EURO!!!

    I'll keep you guys posted!!
