  1. I am a newbie with a dilemma:

I have some tapes of VHS shows from the late 80s that are of poor or low fair quality. I have a Gateway 1.1 GHz AMD with 256 MB Ram, Gforce 2 card, CDRW drive and an ATI Wonder VE capture card to work with.

What is my best bet in terms of capturing the best quality video from that source? Would I only be able to get a resolution of 352 X 240 for 60 min of video on a single CD? If so, I believe I tried that and when I played it on a DVD player, the video looked grainier and lighter in color than the original.

Ideally, I would like to get it onto DVD with a burner and have it play on a regular DVD player with the exact same (maybe better if it is cleaned up) quality as my VHS original. Would the expense of a DVD burner and a better capture card (under $200) be worth it if the source is already poor? Is there any way to really clean it up the video and restore it without spending a fortune?

    Please Help

If you know how to use AviSynth, there is a script to clean up old VHS files. Or there are some TMPGEnc filter settings a Dazzle Card owner discovered that may work for non Dazzle owners as well/
