In NT you can right click choose properties, and it will tell you the audio bit rate of a DIVX.

In Win 2K that is not the case. Same with XP from what I hear.

I have a few divx that I downloaded, and they are like 720 MB. I do not want to overburn.

I wanted to futz around with the file to make it smaller. One way I have doe this in the past is by changing the bit rate from like 320 KB/sec to 112. Save a ton of space. However, on my WIN2K box, I can't figure out what the bit rate is for the DIVX. I know it is an MP3 because Virtual Dub has it as a Fraunhoffer MPEG 3 or something.

Anyone know of a tool or a way I can determine the audio bit rate?

    Thanks!

OPen the clip in VIrtualDub - go to FILE - FILE INFORMATION

to re-encode to avi, set up both your video comppression and filters under the Video heading, and set up your Audio conversions and Compressions under Audio

Both areas set to FULL PROCESSING MODE
