  1. What is up with that?, unless you have two harddrives it's kind of slow.

And having all these folders that look nearly the
    same makes my head spin.

A future ifoedit should have the option of keeping it to one folder

If I'm stripping a DVD, the resulting total files size will be smaller
and should be able to start writing over the older vobs as it goes.

You maybe need a 1GB temp file as a buffer, but I think it could
be done so maybe that is not needed either.

last time i looked, ifoedit DID have the option of copying vobs to a different folder. you're putting the new vobs into the same video_ts folder as the old ones arent you? simply copy them to a new folder and when you're finished rename it VIDEO_TS and burn it with nero. works fine for me.

But I said NO copying, none what so ever.

  4. Overwriting the original files is a bad idea. Disk I/O would not be substantially improved (unless the original file and new file were on opposite sides of the disk).

But what happens if you cancel IFOEDIT? Or if it (or your computer) crashes? You will be left with a mess of files that won't be good for anything. Then you would have to rip the original DVD again and start over.

before you start stripping the vobs, you are giving the option to name the file to which they will be written. all the newly stripped vobs are placed in this file. end of story.
