Hi,
Can someone please confirm that they saw SVCD subtitles on this unit or XVS502SL or XVS300BK?
The vcdhelp players database says that they should be supported, manual says that they are supported, but I can't seem to go further than seeing the "subtitles found" icon in the top-left corner.
I tried WinSubMux+VCDEasy and I-Author to do subtitle muxing and authoring.
CVD sample from this site gives me the "subtitles present" icon, but no subtitles.
SVCD sample gives nothing at all.
If anyone has any information on the subtitles style that JVC expects, please share it.
If someone knows how to switch this unit to diagnostic mode for troubleshooting, please let me know.
Finally, if someone is aware of any firmware upgrades for this player, please respond!
Thanks!

one pooooooost in one forum is enough.
The cvd sample is just a beta. I hope that someone could help me make a better one, especially test the subs...cause I have no svcd subs capable dvd player. -
Well, I could send you back the image with the relocated subtitles (the top coordinate of all bitmaps in the CVD test on this site is 452: I'm suspicious that they'll ever be visible), but, again, I can't be 100% sure that I correctly mastered the new image: after all I can't see them either
Sorry about the double post. I should have made them different: mastering and firmware inquiry.
