    Is it possible to convert SVCD to DivX(avi)? As I want to do away with the widescreen effect.
    Any responce would be welcome.

    I don't think you have to convert it to Divx to do that?

    Try to load the SVCD back into TMPGE and go to Settings > Advanced > Video Arrange Method > Centre Custom Size.
    Make it any size you want.
