Mpeg 1 to DVD-r with Nero

o.k it's like this I have some movies that I would like to put on DVD-r
but I tried everything what I want to do is make a VCD with 4 Movies but on a DVD-r I tried nero 5590 but it say that CD-R/RW medium is required your Compilation cannot be written to this kind of disc. What should I do because all my movies are in mpeg 1 format and I want to put the movies on dvd-r is there a way to do this.

You cannot burn vcd on dvdr.
To put mpeg1 on dvdr you must author as dvd and you must change the audio to 48khz or else it wont be dvd compatible, www.vcdhelp.com/vcddvdr.htm
