*** Note !! - Modify without just simply using avirate.. ***
HI guys,
I normally capture to my capcard using divx 4.12 at 352x288 25.0 fps.
The file normally comes out fine, and needs an avirate adjustment to 25.005 to play perfectly in sync with audio.
How can I modify this to a standard 25.0 fps using some kind of stretch method for the audio rather than looping frames to stay in time with the audio clock.
I have tried importing to Premier, which does the output in 25.0 fps but it uses the frame looping method ( Completly childish implementation by the developers I might add with no consideration to the users, who may sometimes want a choice between this method and a stretched audio (either by removing interpolations or pitch adjustment.)
I have tried Ulead, which simply just makes the audio out of sync with the framerate ( somthing which can be achieved by simply changing the framerate with AVIRATE.exe and no need for long exportations.)
I have looked at a number of other solutions, but decieded to put this too you people coz u all have a great wealth of knowlegde on the subject.
Should I ?
a) using some program split the video and the audio
b) adjust the frame rate of the video
c) use a percentile calculation to the "time" of the audio and adjust accordingly?
Im hoping someone has an easier solution, or a refinement for my a-b-c.
Also if someone can explain how to do step a) using Vdub that wuld be sweet.
Thanks Guys n Gals n Geekz

this may or may not help, i'll tell you about a problem i had this weekend.
i had a 45minute 7 sec pefectly synced avi(dbz 5-cooler's revenge) i wanted to encode to svcd with dvd2svcd. the original framerate was 23.980 fps. when i load into dvd2svcd, the framerate would be adjusted to the standard of 23.976. as you can see, the audio would have a gradual lag that would be about a second ahead of the video by the end of the movie.
so what i did was load the avi in virtualduband save the audio as a wave. then i adjusted the framerate of the video from 23.980 to 23.976 and saved it(video only) in direct stream.
then i reopened the save video in vdub, and checked the file properties. i devided the # of frames by the framerate(23.976) and got a number in seconds. i wrote this number down.
next, i opened the audio in sound forge. i used the time strech option, and shrunk the time down to match the time(that i wrote down)of the video. i then saved the the new wav with 320kbs mp3(yes its a wav).
then i loaded the adjusted video in vdub. on the audio tab i selected "wav audio" and loaded the adjusted wav. then i selected direct stream processing for both audio and video. then i saved the new avi.
i think you can adjust some of the steps in what i wrote to help you out.Where I walk, I walk alone. Where I fight, I fight alone.
