  1. I have captured a movie but I can`t delete the .avi files after the encoding.

"Cannot delete xxx.avi, the file is used by another person or program.
Close programs that maybe is using the file and try again."

I`m using winxp pro, and have never had this problem before.

That is funny, your problem is inherent to XP. Anyway there is a way to do it by altering the registry. But before you do that, make sure any program that uses or has used the file is closed. Then, reselect the file, wait around 30 seconds, then try to delete it.

If that does not work here you are registry surgery instructions.

  3. Maybe this "alternative" helps you to get rid of that file:
If you have Nero installed, try to delete the locked file with Nero's File-Browser. It ignores that the file is locked by the system.

if you can not delete with nero (good trick - didnt know that) you can do it in a dos shell

To delete locked files and special dirs (on your own pc) start a command prompt and use standard DOS commands.

    Locked files (like "pigs_flying.avi")

    del pigs_flying.avi?
(just add a wildcard at the end, ? or *)

Special dirs and files and files in use (like com1, prn, lpt1..)

    rd \\.\D:\cce\files\lpt1
(use the complete path incl the \\.\)

the "\\.\" at the begining tells windows to ignore if a file is in use or a ileagal named file or dir (you cant have a dir named com1 for example but there are ways to accendently make one - and ussually hard to remove it)

now you can't get info on your avi when you right click on it and select properties. hope you backed up your registry.
