SVCD Help please asap

I am using TMPGenc to encode and following the how to guide. I am a bit confused about the cutting bit. I thought an SVCD would take more on the CD. If I cut it into two when encoding won't I end up with more CD's. Please someone explain to me.

if you follow the guides and you encode with TMPGEnc alone (not using DVD2SVCD), you will have one large file. you split that large file in half and it will fit onto 2 cds.

Thanks, I thought that there was a way to fit two cds on to one but perhaps not.
